Hurston sells fine jewelry in two ways, and they work differently.
Most of the catalog is direct. Gold chains, bands, bracelets, pendants — pieces people wear every day. Each one is listed with its metal, its dimensions, and where there are stones, their weight and grading. Nothing is described in language designed to make it sound like more than it is. If a stone is J color, the page says J color. You should be able to decide whether a piece is right for you without needing to ask what a description actually means.
The other side of the business is slower. Colombian emeralds, selected as individual stones and set to commission. This work is made to order rather than held in inventory, which means each piece begins with a conversation about the stone, the setting, and what the finished piece is meant to be. It takes longer and it isn't for everyone. That's the nature of it.
How we think about it
Fine jewelry is sold badly more often than it's made badly. The industry runs on vague adjectives, invented urgency, and prices that move depending on how a customer is read. We'd rather publish the specification and the price and let the piece speak.
That extends to how we handle the parts nobody enjoys. Shipping is free and insured. Returns are free for fourteen days, with a prepaid label. Every inquiry is answered by a person, usually within a day.
